Privacy Policy

Chalk — Effective 26 September 2026

1. Information We Collect

When you use Chalk, we collect information you provide and information generated as you use the app:

  • Account information — email address, user ID, and sign-in provider details used to create and authenticate your account.
  • Profile and training data — gender, age range, bodyweight, training experience, current maxes for squat, bench press, and deadlift, sticking points, stress and recovery levels, equipment access, unit preference, and accessory preferences.
  • Training history — workout logs, completed sets, program progress, readiness inputs, and program adjustments recorded within the app.
  • User content — feature requests, support messages, or other text you submit to us.
  • Product interaction data — app screens, feature usage, onboarding events, and other interaction events used to understand and improve the app.
  • Diagnostics — crash reports, error details, app version, device and session identifiers, and technical request information used to investigate reliability issues. Diagnostic reports exclude API request and response bodies, authentication headers, and URL query strings.
  • Masked session replay — when monitoring is enabled, recordings of app screens and interactions help us understand the steps leading to an error. Text and images are masked in replay; automatic console and network-payload recording is disabled. Recordings and analytics may be associated with your account ID after you sign in.
  • Subscription data — subscription status, entitlement identifiers, purchase restoration status, and related billing identifiers needed to provide paid access.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Generate personalised training programs based on your profile.
  • Track your training progress across program phases.
  • Authenticate your account and maintain your session.
  • Provide subscription access, restore purchases, and support billing-related account status.
  • Send local workout reminders when you choose to enable notifications.
  • Measure product performance, diagnose errors, and improve onboarding and app features.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your account and training data is stored using Supabase (hosted on AWS). We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth.

4. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. We share data with service providers only as needed to operate Chalk, including providers that support:

  • authentication, database, and storage infrastructure;
  • Apple, Google, and email account sign-in;
  • subscription status, entitlements, purchase restoration, and billing management through RevenueCat and Apple;
  • first-party product analytics, crash reporting, and masked session replay through PostHog when monitoring is enabled.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security. You can delete your account in the Chalk app from Settings. Deleting your account removes your authentication account, profile, training programs, workout history, authored feature requests, and votes from Chalk's application database. Account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription; subscription billing is managed separately by Apple.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and data.
  • Opt out of local workout reminders by disabling notifications in the app or device settings.

7. Children

Chalk is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
